Ekarma Training Program – Empowering Haryana’s Youth through Freelancing & Entrepreneurship

The Department of Higher Education, Haryana, has launched the Ekarma Training Program to foster freelancing, entrepreneurship, and employment among the youth of the state. To achieve this, five Centers of Excellence have been established in government colleges located in Panchkula, Karnal, Hisar, Faridabad, and Gurugram.

These centers are managed in partnership with Appworx IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd., an industry expert responsible for training college students, graduates, postgraduates, and college dropouts from Haryana in internet-based freelancing platforms such as Upwork, Freelancer, and Guru. Each year, the program aims to train up to 3,000 candidates.

Program Objectives

  • Equip youth with the skills needed to start earning through top freelancing platforms and digital avenues.

  • Encourage startup creation among trained candidates.

  • Increase foreign exchange earnings, as most freelancing income is received in foreign currency.

  • Ensure that the income generated through freelancing/startups matches or exceeds 50% of the total project cost.

Program Scope

Selected candidates will receive free training for 4–6 months, focusing on high-demand skills in the global freelancing market. The training covers:

  • Communication Skills

  • Freelancing Portal Bidding Skills

  • Technical Skills (including advanced technologies with high freelancing demand)

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must:

  • Be a domicile of Haryana

  • Be aged between 18 to 30 years

  • Be an existing college student, graduate, postgraduate, or college dropout
