Extension lectures were organized on 15 March 2023 under the aegis of English Department and Women Study and Development Cell of Government Post Graduate College for Women, Sector 14, Panchkula on very relevant topic “Role of Literature in Language Learning” & “Career in Language and Literature” by a great academician Prof. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Professor of English Department of Chaudhary Devi Lal University. The session was started with a brief introduction of resource person to the participants by Dr Alka Sharma, Convener WSDC. After that Dr. Ritu Yadav welcomed Prof Pankaj Sharma with a plant. Prof Sharma addressed the participants about the origin of language, its practical use and explained the nature and utility of language in literature with the changing times. He said that we can express the thoughts of our mind with the help of language only. Language is not naturally available to humans but it is man-made. One can become a great writer only by the way of saying and telling things beautifully. Along with this, he emphasized on the practical side of language and literature in the era of social media. Prof Sharma guided the students that there will be huge possibilities of employment in the fields of content development, voiceover and translation etc. in the coming years. At the same time, he inspired the girl students to learn new languages ​​by revealing them the benefits of being multilingual. He convinced the language students to take the benefit of it in everyday work to improve their lives. Dr. Pankaj Sharma delivered his lecture in a very simple and interesting manner which kept the children engaged till the end. After the lecture, he solved the questions and curiosity of the girl students in polite manner. Dr. Sharma cited the context and examples related to practical life in his lecture.
