Activities of Psychology Department odd semester (2021-22)

Activity 1
An online talk was delivered by Professor Rakesh Behmani ,former Chairman, Dept of AppliedPsychology, Guru Jambeshwar University of science and technology,Hisar on “current Mental Health scenario in India” on 11.10.2021 at 11:30 AM.Approximately,100 students have attended an online talk. All students have listened the lecture carefully.In the last, questions regarding mental health and depression were asked by the students.

Activity 2
On 16 November 2021 science exhibition was held in the college(Govt P.G.College for women, sector 14,Panchkula)at 11 AM where psychology department prepared two models on 1)Domestic violence and its impact on mental health
2) optical illusion.Other departments -chemistry,physics,botany ,zoology ,computer science and geography also participated and displayed their models too.Prized Model was further taken to inter-district level science exhibition which was held on 23rd and 24 November 2021 at Smt. A.A.A. Govt P.G. College, kalka. Our model got third position.
Activity 3
On the occasion of NationalIntegration Day on 18 November,2021 anonline lecture was conducted by NSS (unit one and unit two)along with the Department of psychology and geography,Govt PG College for women, sector 14 ,Panchkula at 11 AM .Mr Sanjit Kumar Assistant Professor Govt PG College,Ambala Cant was invited as the resource person to deliver the lecture.Hetold students about the meaning ,role and relevance of national integration.He also discussed on various perspectives of National Integration in India.More than 90 students participated and benefited from the discussion.
Activity 4
NSS unit-l and II organised an online lecture on the occasion of ‘World AIDS Day’on 30 November,2021 in collaboration with Department of psychology and geography.Ms Ritu Kaushik (educational and vocational guidance Counsellor)delivered an informative lecture on the topic “Prevailing’sagainst‘global epidemic’ AIDS : by putting young people at the centre” on Google meet platform.More than 95 students actively participated and asked questions related to AIDS.
Activity 5
An essay writing competitionwas organised by the Department of psychology and sociology on 27.12.2021 at 11:00 AM in Room no 407.The topics for essay writing competition were:-
• Domestic violence and its psychological repercussions.
• Women’s emancipation through education
• Gender equality and women’s Empowerment
• Youth Unrest- causes and remedies
In total 15 students have participated in this competition.The students were free to write on one of the given topics.Mrs Vibha Madan, Ms Kalpana and Mr Naveen Malik were the judges.
